Around the Tay river & Rideau Canal.
Pasamos varios días por los lagos Rideau y el condado de Lanark con base en Perth (Ontario). Entre el lago Ontario y Ottawa, Perth fue nuestro centro de operaciones y el lugar de residencia de Rose y Justin, con quienes pudimos disfrutar algunos destinos y noches ricas de conversación
We spent several days around Rideau Lakes and Lanark County based out of Perth, Ontario. Between Lake Ontario and Ottawa Perth was our center of operations and the place of residence of Rose and Justin, with whom we were able to enjoy some destinations and rich nights of conversation.
Entramos desde el sur, tomando el ferry en Kingston y cuando entramos a Rideau Lakes, la ruta se hizo ondulante y deliciosa. Cruzamos los lagos de Rideau en el estrecho a través de la esclusa 35 y pasando por propiedades llenas de graneros y otras edificaciones construidas en función de la necesidad y que en algunas ocasiones se presentan como una colección muy ecléctica de edificaciones.
We entered from the south, taking the ferry in Kingston and when we entered Rideau Lakes, the route was made or during and delicious. We crossed the Rideau Lakes in the strait through lock 35 and past estates full of barns and other buildings built on the basis of need and sometimes presented as a very eclectic collection of buildings.
Perth es una población de 6000 habitantes, con elementos fascinantes que la hacen un lugar atractivo para vivir, restaurantes, cafés, galerías de arte, pequeñas tiendas con carácter, parques y el río Tay, hacen que sea muy fácil distraerse es dejar que el tiempo pase con gracia. Disfrutamos las diferentes delicias a través de los días que estuvimos allí, pero de forma especial nuestra visita a la galería Nu Bar en donde la conversación fue estimulante y generosa y me llenó de entusiasmo para seguir con mis exploraciones artísticas.
Perth has a population of 6,000, with fascinating elements that make it an attractive place to live, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, small shops with character, parks, and the River Tay make it very easy to get distracted and to let time pass gracefully We enjoyed the various delights throughout the days we were there, but especially our visit to the Nu Bar gallery where the conversation was stimulating and generous and filled me with enthusiasm to continue my artistic explorations.
Perth hace parte de Lanark county así que exploramos varios lugares aledaños: Smith’s Falls, Merrickville, e una caminata a la montaña Blueberry, que nos permitió ver desde mayor altura el paisaje de montañas redondeadas que se pierden en el horizonte, en la cima rocas de granito sirven de plataforma para los visitantes y para las plantas de arándanos, que estando fuera de estación, ya tenían algunas frutas maduras para nosotros.
Perth is part of Lanark county so we explored several nearby places, including Smith’s Falls, Merrickville, and took a walk to the top of Blueberry mountain, which allowed us to see the landscape of rounded mountains from a greater height; at the top granite rocks serve as a platform for visitors and for the blueberry plants, which, despite being out of season, already had some ripe fruit for us.
Ottawa y entrando Québec / Ottawa and into Québec
Paramos en Ottawa para visitar la exhibición temporal de la Galería Nacional. La exhibición denominada Las No Invitadas, incluye una serie de obras de mujeres canadienses entre 1920 y 1940. En ella además, pudimos apreciar la belleza de las artistas indígenas, Métis e Inuit y su trabajo en dibujo, pintura chaquira, bordado, tejido, cuero y espinas. La calidad y la riqueza del diseño nos hacía suspirar en cada obra. En lo relativo a la pintura fue impactante la consistente representación de la dimensión emocional de las personas en los retratos, es una intensidad emocional que traspasa hasta los huesos.
We stopped in Ottawa to visit the temporary exhibition of the national gallery. The exhibition called Uninvited, presents a series of works by Canadian women between 1920 and 1940. On one side we were able to appreciate the beauty of indigenous, Métis, and Inuit artists and their work in drawing, bead painting, embroidery, weaving, and quills. The quality and richness of the design made us sigh in each work. Regarding the painting, the consistent powerful representation of the emotional dimension of the people in the portraits was impressive, it is an emotional intensity that goes through to the bones.
Después de las delicias citadinas, fuimos al norte a visitar Scott Starkweather, un hacedor de cuchillos, llegamos a su casa nos recibió sorprendido visitarlo y la última visita nos mostró todo sus diferentes espacios sus lugares de forja nosotros sus preferencias en la elaboración, cuenta sus historias con la picardía de quién juega un juego de experimentación, nos muestra un orgullo sus primeras herramientas sus adaptaciones así como las últimas a hacer su trabajo más fácil y efectivo luego abre una caja con cuchillas y nos muestra una una características y también las fallas se ríe cada vez que las revela y vuelve a guardarlas como grandes tesoros.
After the city’s delights, we went north to visit Scott Starkweather, a knife maker; we arrived at his house, surprising him with our visit, and he showed us all his different spaces, his forges, his preferences in making, he told his stories with the mischief of someone who plays a game of experimentation, proudly shows us his first tools, his adaptations as well as the latest ones to make his work easier and more effective, then he opens a box with blades and shows us their characteristics and also the failures, he laughs every each time he reveals them and keeps them again as great treasures.
Él es chef y sus cuchillos son orientados a funcionar en la cocina le gustan livianos y capaces de operar con diferentes productos, se preocupa porque el mango del cuchillo tenga un espacio apropiado para que el dedo toque cómodamente la cuchilla .
He is a chef and his knives are oriented to work in the kitchen. He likes them light and capable of operating with different products. He is concerned that the handle of the knife has an appropriate space for the finger to touch the blade comfortably.
El día alcanzo para llegar a las afueras de Mont Tremblant. Un campamento cerca del Río rojo, lleno de gente disfrutando las playas amarillas que bordean sus aguas. Una vez la luz bajo, las ranas comenzaron su canto, de bandas elásticas, que resultó hipnotizante. Así que de salto en salto nos perdimos en las delicias del sueño.
The day was enough to reach the outskirts of Mont Tremblant. A camp near the Red River, full of people enjoying the yellow beaches that border its waters. Once the sun went down, the frogs began their song, sounding like twanging elastic bands, which was mesmerizing. So from jump to jump we lost ourselves in the delights of sleep.
Exploramos rápidamente Mont Tremblant, entre el centro de visitantes y el café, un lugar lleno de gente, explorando las calles, el comercio y las zonas de recreación.
We quickly explored Mont Tremblant, between the visitor centre and the café, a place full of people, exploring the streets, the commerce, and the recreation areas.
Llegamos al parque y comenzamos la ruta hacia el mirador, caminamos por un bosque de Yellow Birch y Maple, ascendiendo constantemente hacia el sitio de observación. Una terraza deja ver el lago Rouge con formas sinuosas creadas por los diferentes planos de las montañas. El gris del cielo cubría con sus rayos plata el agua del lago y transformaba el verde de las montañas en grises que se aclaraban con la profundidad hasta co fundirse con el cielo.
We arrive at the park and start the route to the first viewpoint; we walk through a forest of Yellow Birch and Maple, constantly ascending towards the observation site. A terrace reveals Lake Rouge with sinuous shapes created by the different planes of the mountains. The gray of the sky covered the lake water with its silver rays and transformed the green of the mountains into greys that became lighter with depth until they blended with the sky.
Las cataratas del diablo y el río con su nombre, nos sorprendieron con Su fuerza y tamaño, una caída de 20 metros de profundidad con un cambio de dirección del curso del Río, crean una pared verde que se alimenta del roció constante que se genera con la caída y una colecciones de árboles que crecen sobre las rocas en una abrazo estrecho y permanente.
Devil's Falls and the river with the same name surprised us with their strength and size, a fall of 20 metres with a change of direction of the river course create a green wall which is fed by the constant spray that is generated with the fall and a collection of trees that grow on the rocks in a close and permanent embrace.
Al final del día exploramos la playa en el campamento, coincidió con un momento de bella luz sobre el bosque y su reflejo en el agua. Cuando las gotas de lluvia atravesaron los árboles altos y densos fue el momento de descansar y perdernos en la oscuridad de la noche.
At the end of the day we explored the beach at the camp, it coincided with a moment of beautiful light on the forest and its reflection in the water. When the raindrops passed through the tall and dense trees it was time to rest and lose ourselves in the darkness of the night.
Después de un día manejando bajo la Lluvia llegamos a la
Maurice parque nacional. Pequeñas gotas de Lluvia caían del cielo gris y de los
árboles a nuestro alrededor, después de comprar madera para la noche llegamos a
nuestro campamento y Alan como siempre prendió el fuego.
After a day of driving in the rain we arrived
at La Maurice national park. Small drops of rain fell from the grey sky
and from the trees around us; after buying wood for the night we arrived at our
camp and Alan, as always, lit the fire.
Los datos meteorológicos indicaban que tendríamos una hora sin lluvia entre las seis y las siete, una buena oportunidad para preparar nuestra cena y soltar la tensión que se acumula en el cuerpo al poner la atención en los diferentes tonos de gris de la ruta.
The meteorological data indicated that we
would have an hour without rain between six and seven, a good opportunity to
prepare our dinner and release the tension that accumulates in the body paying
attention to the different shades of grey on the route.
Tuvimos una hora y media para disfrutar, conversamos con
calma disfrutando el calor del Fuego y la belleza del bosque del campamento
pero después de 20 minutos de Franco reposo las gotas comenzaron de nuevo así
que guardamos todo y pasamos parte de la noche en el área común del campamento,
y siguiendo en silencia nuestra lectura compartida, que es difícil de soltar.
We had an hour and a half to enjoy; we talked
in tranquillity enjoying the heat of the fire and the beauty of the forest but
after 20 minutes of rest the drops started again so we put everything away and
spent the subsequent part of the evening in the common area of the camp, and silently following our shared reading, which is hard to
let go.
Llovió toda la noche los cambios en intensidad y velocidad de las gotas fueron la única diferencia y el silencio resultante de la ausencia del repicar en el techo del carro fue nuestro mejor despertador, el día seguía gris y las proyecciones de lluvia no indicaban mejores condiciones.
It rained all night, the changes in intensity and frequency of the raindrops were the only variation and the silence resulting from the absence of the chiming on the roof of the car was our best alarm clock, the day was still grey and the projections of rain did not indicate better conditions.
Nuestra primera caminata por un pequeño sendero cerca del lago, un espacioso bosque de Birch amarillo, maple y y
Balsam fír qué acompaña el borde del lago para luego hacer un pequeño circuito
por el bosque y descender al lado del río. Las aguas rojizas de los afluentes
del lago son refrescantes y preciosas en sus orillas libélulas de colores
negros y azules vuelan generosamente el suelo del bosque cubierto por tapetes
de musgos y líquenes que hacen sentir la tierra suave los árboles empezar una

Our first walk was along a small path near the lake, a spacious forest of yellow Birch, maple and Balsam fir that accompanies the edge of the lake, and then we made a small circuit through the forest and descended next to the river. The reddish waters of the lake's tributaries are refreshing and precious on its shores, black and blue dragonflies fly generously over the forest floor covered by mats of mosses and lichens that make the earth feel soft, the trees start transmitting the light with small patches of sun as a reference for the route, fleeing from them, small frogs crossed the path and hid in the nearest leaf.
Al otro lado del parque, visitar todos los puntos de observación
de marcados en el mapa. Sin haberlo pensado tomamos el sendero de las cascadas
y encontramos una imagen inolvidable de agua derramándose por encima de las
rocas que descienden progresivamente hasta la parte baja del río, es posible
acceder a diferentes puntos desestructurado cosas y disfrutar el sentido de
fluir en nosotros. aguas arriba una discreta estructura de madera se desliza
por el pantanal, y en las aguas calmas una hermosa hembra de me faster se
desliza sobre el agua buscando comida. cruzamos el río cerca de la salida de la
hemos una ruta entre la montaña subimos la Scarpa para luego descender a un

On the other side of the park, we visited all
the observation points marked on the map. Without thinking about it, we took the path to the waterfalls and found an
unforgettable image of water spilling over the rocks which progressively
descends to the lower part of the river, it is possible to gain access to different
unstructured points and enjoy the sense of flow in ourselves. Upstream a discreet wooden structure slides through the swamp, and in the
calm waters a beautiful female kingfisher glides over the water looking for
food. We crossed the river then climbed the scarp
and then descended to a viewpoint that allowed us to appreciate the greatness
of the forest that slides across the horizon to the sky, in a beautiful mixture
of blues and whites .
Nuevos líquenes de los árboles más antiguos y un hermoso hongo amarillo Apareció para que viéramos su presencia singular.
New lichens appeared on the older trees and a
beautiful yellow mushroom appeared for us to see its unique presence.

Again next to the river, the green of the Maple lightens with the sun's rays, creating a mixture of delicious temperatures for walking.
Llegamos al río, finalmente un buen grupo de personas se
apiñaba en el pequeño banco de arena para entrar la agua. Así que después de
nuestro picnic, al agua, para mi fue refrescante y relajante, especialmente
cuando la corriente me arrastraba aguas abajo, para Alan un cuerpo helado
queriéndolo atraparlo así que después de disfrutar el frío en sus pies, se
alejó a la orilla.
We reached the river, finally a large group of people crowded into the small sandbank to enter the water. So after our picnic, in the water, for Marce it was refreshing and relaxing, especially when the current dragged me downstream, for Alan it was an icy body wanting to catch him so after enjoying the cold on his feet, he walked to the shore.
Para terminar la exploración del lugar, tomamos la ruta 155,
hacia La Tuque,
descrito como un pequeño pueblo entre el bosque. Inmediatamente nuestras
memorias de los cuentos infantiles crearon una imagen de pueblo encantado.
To finish exploring the area, we took Route
155 to La Tuque, described as a small town in the woods. Immediately our memories of children's stories created an image of an
enchanted town.
La ruta se abre paso al lado del Río, en un continuo sube y baja placentero y con Imágenes de las montañas rocosas más al norte, lastimosamente los sitios para parar son limitados permitiendo sólo un ejercicio de contemplación y disfrute de todo alrededor.
The route makes its way next to the river, in
a continuous pleasant rise and fall and with images of the rocky mountains
further north; unfortunately the places to stop are limited, allowing only an
exercise in contemplation and enjoyment of everything around.
Cuando llegamos, descubrimos un pueblo mediano, de vocación industrial, con sectores residenciales y comerciales bien definidos y con poco encanto. Sin embargo, justo en las afueras el parque Parc des Chutes-de-la-Petite-Rivière-Bostonnais no solo nos permitió comprender más de la tradición maderera de la zona, sino que nos dio acceso a una catarata de múltiples caídas, que pudimos apreciar desde diferentes ángulos a a travez del sendero que la recorre de principio a fin. Una bella sorpresa para terminar el día.
When we arrived, we discovered a medium-sized town, with an industrial vocation, with well-defined residential and commercial sectors and little charm. However, just outside the town the Parc des Chutes-de-la-Petite-Rivière-Bostonnais park not only allowed us to understand more of the area's logging tradition, but also gave us access to a waterfall with multiple falls, which we were able to appreciate from different angles through the path that runs through it from start to finish - a beautiful surprise to end the day.
