British Colombia – Vancouver to Telkwa

  2022 May 17   We had to return home for a week for work, then returned to Vancouver where we were able to catch up with family again, while finalizing car preparation:   ·       Installed the “self-inflating” mattress and arranged a tie-down system ·       Acquired storage boxes for tools, kitchen equipment, food, and a water storage bottle ·       Acquired a stove – minimalist butane stove which collapses to fit into a small box ·       Acquired a camp table from MEC ·       Received camp chairs from Amazon ·       Acquired and fitted a fire extinguisher ·       Acquired emergency warning triangles ·       Acquired jumper cables ·       Acquired wheel chocks and a bottle jack ·       Acquired some supplies for general work – duck tape, tie wraps ·       Acquire a duvet, sheets, pillows, and pillow cases – MUJI   (with sheets and pillow cases from home) ·       Acquire a Canadian cellphone SIM (ordered from Rogers to be sent to Vancouve

Nova Scotia: still snowing in late April

  Nova Scotia 2022 May   Arriving from Montréal, initially we stayed near Wolfville and spent some time in the area. We made visits to Scots Bay, Peggy’s Cove, Victoria Vale, Halls Harbour, Mahone Bay, and Kingston, as well as to Halifax. The weather was mixed, as expected, with heavy rainstorms and winds, as well as a few beautiful sunny days, on one of which we walked to Crystal Falls and then went to McMaster Mill and the Notch.      Peggy's Cove   Crystal Falls   Hall's Harbour Jan kindly lent us her car whenever needed and also for a circuit of Cape Breton, which was excellent. Although the end of April there was a lot of snow around, and in fact it snowed while we were driving there. However we were fortunate overall and enjoyed walks on the east coast north of Baddeck and near Ingonish, and also in the central highlands, where we enjoyed a beautiful warm sunny day and lunched at a picnic spot by the river. Montréal, Ottawa, Lac St. Paul

  Montréal, Ottawa, Lac St. Paul 2022 April   We flew into Montréal (YUL) and spent a fortnight with family, enjoying Montréal’s cuisine, art museums, and crafts, as well as enabling comparison between Vancouver’s best bagels and those of Montréal.                                                                                    "Mountains" - Nicolas Party   We spent two nights in Ottawa, with a walk along the Rideau Canal and an afternoon and evening in Byward Market, then spent a couple of days in the Québec Laurentians, where we relaxed beside Lac St. Paul, and visited Lac de la Montagne and Chutes Windigo, snowshoeing in beautiful sunshine.       From here we returned to Montréal to catch a flight to Halifax, whence to Wolfville for the first part of 2 weeks in Nova Scotia.        Our next stages of the trip:   We’re now in Wolfville, visiting family there for a fortnight.   Plans:   We’ll return to Vancouver and finalise prepa
