A nuestro regreso a Ontario, pasamos un tiempo con Rose y Justin, antes de comenzar nuevamente nuestro regreso a Vancouver. La mañana de nuestra salida de Perth, tras los rituales matutinos y filtrar la lista de interminables tareas para centrarnos sólo en aquellas verdaderamente imprescindibles, iniciamos nuestra ruta hacia el oeste.
On our return to Ontario, we spent some time with Rose and Justin, before beginning again our return to Vancouver. On the morning of our departure from Perth, after the morning rituals and filtering the list of endless tasks to focus only on those that are truly essential, we began our route to the west.
Pronto, al cruzar el rio Misisipi, una imagen de abrumadora belleza nos dejó sin respiración, no era necesario, todo el oxígeno entraba por los ojos, una colección de bosque de múltiples colores, rebosante de hojas y encontrando espacio en el agua, llenaban el espacio y tiempo hasta que el cuerpo nos recordó respirar.
Soon, upon crossing the Mississippi River (yes), an image of overwhelming beauty left us breathless, breathing was not necessary, all the oxygen entered through our eyes, a collection of forests of multiple colours, overflowing with leaves and finding space in the water, filled the space and time until the body reminded us to breathe.
El tráfico era intenso y parar imposible así que esa imagen se quedó grabada en la conciencia, en esos lugares imborrables, con la esperanza de encontrar otro sitio de similar belleza más adelante.
The traffic was intense and stopping was impossible, so that image remained engraved in our consciousness, in those indelible places, with the hope of finding another place of similar beauty later on.
La ruta continuo entre una imagen y otra, cada una con su particular atracción y todas ellas cargadas de colores, contrastes y preguntas.
The route continued between one image and another, each one with its particular attraction and all of them loaded with colours, contrasts and questions.
Llegamos a Algonquin Provincial Park y comenzamos la exploración de una serie de senderos que nos permitieron no sólo disfrutar el esplendor del bosque, sino comprender las dinámicas de las plantas, los peces y el agua en el lugar.
We arrived at Algonquin Provincial Park and began exploring a series of trails that allowed us not only to enjoy the splendour of the forest, but also to understand the dynamics of the plants, fish and water in the place.
Caminar en los colores del otoño, fue un llamado a la perseverancia para asegurar agregar valor, tiene implícito el sentido de preparación para el futuro, de habilitar lo que sigue, es una bella metáfora de la productividad sostenible, los colores son mecanismos de protección de la hojas para facilitar el retorno de los minerales a las raíces y habilitar el rebrote en la próxima primavera.
Walking in the colours of autumn was a call to perseverance to ensure growth, it has an implicit sense of preparation for the future, of enabling what comes next, it is a beautiful metaphor for sustainable productivity, the colours are protection mechanisms for the leaves to facilitate the return of minerals to the roots and enable regrowth next spring.
Cerca a Algonquin, una reserva de lobos nos permitió apreciar estos animales majestuosos que viven en una manada de 6 en una área protegida y sin contacto humano. Después de la espera pudimos ver dos de ellos, la líder de la manada, gris, de cara audaz y con las huellas del tiempo en la piel, y uno de sus hijos, un macho de 4 años, de pelaje nutrido y un cuerpo saludable que seguramente pronto verá a sus cachorros.
Near Algonquin, a wolf reserve allowed us to appreciate these majestic animals that live in a pack of six in a protected area without human contact. After a while we were able to see two of them, the leader of the pack, grey, with a bold face and with the marks of time on her skin, and one of her children, a four-year-old male, with a well-nourished coat and a healthy body, as her puppies will surely have soon.
Dedicamos otros días a explorar las 30.000 islas en Georgian Bay, una región al este del lago Hurón reconocida por su belleza y por la existencia del archipiélago de agua dulce más grande del mundo. Visitamos el parque nacional, al cual se accede a través de bote. Solo había disponibilidad para la zona sur de la isla, así que ese sería nuestro destino. Llegamos temprano, después de haber despertado entre las hostas de lluvia y con ganas de tomar el desayuno en un lugar seco, no encontramos ningún lugar disponible, pero nos topamos como una máquina expendedora de pizza, que nos la entregó caliente y dorada luego de 3 minutos de espera (la curiosidad volvió esta opción irresistible).
We spent other days exploring the 30,000 islands in Georgian Bay, a region east of Lake Huron renowned for its beauty and the existence of the largest freshwater archipelago in the world. We visited the national park, to which access is gained by boat. There was availability only to the southern part of the island, so that was to be our destination. We arrived early, after having woken among rain storms and so wanting to breakfast in a dry place; we did not find any available place, but we stumbled upon a pizza vending machine, which delivered its offer to us hot and golden after 3 minutes of waiting (curiosity made this option irresistible).
En cuestión de minutos estábamos en el muelle del parque comenzando nuestra caminata. La isla es un paraíso para los reptiles y los anfibios, así que varias advertencias fueron recibidas. En los primeros minutos nos cruzamos con el primer ejemplar, lo que operó como una muy buena invitación a caminar con presencia. Exploramos la isla en diferentes direcciones, disfrutando la frescura del bosque, la riqueza de los hongos, las serpientes, las aves en su canto espacioso y el agua fría y transparente alrededor, cuando llegamos a la punta más al norte todos los elementos de la mezcla estaban allí creando belleza, las rocas de granito rosa abrazadas por los líquenes verde menta, los pastos ya secos aportando color, los árboles de maple con sus hojas multicolor, los pinos blancos peinados por el viento rompiendo el azul intenso del cielo, el agua creando reflejos frescos, las flores rosadas iluminando los grises que el agua deja en el suelo y una bandado de grackle común sobrevolando el bosque y creando formas oscuras en el cielo hasta desaparecer a la vista en el árbol verde más cercano y mientras llenaban el espacio con su canto.
Within minutes we were at the park's dock beginning our walk. The island is a paradise for reptiles and amphibians, so several warnings were received. In the first minutes we came across the first specimen, which acted as a very good invitation to walk with awareness. We explored the island in different directions, enjoying the freshness of the forest, the richness of the mushrooms, the snakes, the birds in their spacious song, and the cold and transparent water; when we reached the northernmost tip all the elements of the mix were there creating beauty, the pink granite rocks embraced by the mint green lichens, the already dry grasses providing colour, the maple trees with their multicoloured leaves, the white pines combed by the wind breaking the intense blue of the sky, the water creating fresh reflections, the pink flowers illuminating the grey that the water leaves on the ground, and a flock of common grackle flying over the forest and creating dark shapes in the sky until disappearing from view in the nearest green tree while they filled the space with their singing.
A nuestro regreso, visitamos Midland, una ciudad más grande de lo imaginado y con una agenda cultural vibrante. Fuimos allí buscando el centro cultural y encontramos una representación a cielo abierto de la vida del pueblo Hurón- Wendat. Con sus casas gigantes rodeadas con las cercas de black spruce tan altas que parecen tocar el cielo. Luego explorando la ciudad no encontramos con una casa de té, que parecía sacada del tiempo y el espacio, y entre platos, tazas e infinitas fotos de la realiza británica en la era de Elizabeth, nos sentamos a tomar el té.
Upon our return, we visited Midland, a city larger than imagined and with a vibrant cultural agenda. We went there looking for the cultural centre and found an open-air representation of the life of the Hurón-Wendat people. We found giant houses surrounded by black spruce fences so high that they seem to touch the sky. Then exploring the city we found a tea house, which seemed out time and space, and among plates, cups, and endless photos of British Royalty in Elizabeth II's era, we sat down to have tea.
Dormimos cerca de Parry Sound, en parque provincial Oastler Lake. Los parques estaban llenos y nuestro sitio estaba definidos por tres gigantes maples que dejaban caer sus hojas naranjas con el viento como si quisiera hacer juego con los colores del cielo al atardecer. Al día siguiente, con la frescura de la mañana, fue un placer descubrir la belleza del lago, los árboles coloridos creaban un fondo precioso para el agua, que despertaba lentamente cubierta aún con su cobija de niebla. Más la Norte, en un silencio precioso que silencia la mente, todos los elementos coexistían en la belleza para dar espacio a los pequeños Kinglets de alimentarse tranquilamente en su danza rápida entre una rama y la otra y sus pequeños cantos de llamado y aseguramiento.
We slept near Parry Sound, in Oastler Lake Provincial Park. The parks were full and our site was defined by three giant maples that dropped their orange leaves in the wind as if they wanted to match the colours of the sky at sunset. The next day, with the freshness of the morning, it was a pleasure to discover the beauty of the lake; the colourful trees created a beautiful background for the water, which slowly woke up still covered with its blanket of fog. Further North, in a beautiful silence that silences the mind, all the elements coexisted in beauty to give space to the small kinglets to feed calmly in their rapid dance between one branch and the other and their small songs of call and assurance.
Pasamos el día recorriendo el archipiélago, tomamos el ferry y con otro montón de personas navegamos por ente una isla y otra, imágenes maravillosas pasaron por nuestro ojos, compuestas por los elementos de siempre, que se ordenan de múltiples formas entre el espacio abierto o estrecho, y por múltiples edificaciones que revelaron el nivel de uso de la tierra en el lugar, en la parte norte, las playas del parque provincial estaban repletas, todos afuera disfrutado el que seguramente sería el último fin de semana con sol de la temporada.
We spent the day touring the archipelago, we took the ferry and with a herd of visitors we sailed between one island and another; wonderful images passed through our eyes, composed of the usual elements, which are arranged in multiple ways between open or narrow space; and owing to the presence of multiple buildings that revealed the level of land use in the place, in the northern part, the beaches of the provincial park were packed, everyone outside enjoying what would surely be the last sunny weekend of the season.
Después de un helado de proporciones indescriptibles seguimos al norte. Acampamos en Grundy Lake, con una noche fría, menos despejada y sin posibilidad de abrigarnos con el Fuego, así que nos dedicamos a los abrazos.
After an ice cream of indescribable proportions we continued north. We camped at Grundy Lake, with a cold, less clear, night and without the possibility of warming ourselves with the fire, so we dedicated ourselves to hugs.
Después de esta parte del viaje nos dirigimos hacia el norte y hacia el norte de Ontario para continuar hacia el oeste.
Following this part of the trip we headed north and into Northern Ontario to continue westwards.
