Explorando le Peninsula Bruce / Exploring the Bruce peninsula
Tomamos el ferry Chi-cheemaun a Tobermory donde acampamos. El día siguiente nos llevó al Parque Nacional Bruce Peninsula. También disfrutamos visitando el pueblo, con varias atracciones, incluido el helado.
We took the Chi-cheemaun ferry to Tobermory where we camped. The next day took us to the Bruce Peninsula National Park. We also enjoyed visiting the village, with various attractions, including ice cream.
Comenzamos el día con el sorprendente sol y el cielo azul, una de las ventajas de los días despejados es que el calor nos saca del carro y nos permite activarnos más rápidamente. Hoy exploraremos la península de Bruce vamos con la esperanza de poder acampar a pesar de un sistema que nos muestra que está completamente lleno.
We started the day with an amazing sun and blue sky; one of the advantages of clear days is that the heat stays in the car and this gets us going earlier. On this day we will explore Bruce Peninsula National Park we go with the hope of being able to camp there despite the online system's showing that it is completely full.
Ahora el bosque está dominado por el cedro blanco, nos movemos por el borde del lago ciprés a través de un sendero amplio fácil de caminar para luego tomar la ruta que nos llevará al borde del Georgian Bay.
Now the forest is dominated by white cedar; we move along the cypresses at the edge of the lake along a wide easy path and then take a route that will take us to the edge of Georgian Bay.
El sendero la formación rocosa comienza aflorar como burbujas en el agua creando una falsa sensación de suavidad que es compensada con el suelo acolchado que se acumula su alrededor. Los acabtulados rocosos que agéndenos hacen parte de los acantilados Niagara, que se extienden hasta Manitoulin Island por 800 km, constituidos por dolomita, presentan formas de erosión curiosas incluyendo algunos puntos redondos sobre la superficies de las rocas.
On the path, the rock formation begins to emerge like bubbles in the water, creating a false sensation of softness that is compensated by the soil that accumulates around it. The rocky cliffs which form part of the Niagara escarpment, which extends for 800 km to Manitoulin Island, are made up of dolomite, and present curious forms of erosion including some round dimples on the rock surfaces.
A pesar de qué el parque está lleno la mayor parte del tiempo nos
cruzamos eventualmente con pequeños grupos, así el sendero permanece como un
espacio silencioso y rico disfrutar. Las orquídeas amarillas (yellow lady’s
slipper)están presentes en la zonas más bajas y resulta una de esas bellezas
fácilmente desapercibidas. Cuando llegamos al agua en Marr nos encontramos con
una gran duna de fragmentos de roca fracturados que ofrecen un paisaje
desconcertante y al mismo tiempo un tapete precioso para que él bosque y el agua
sean los protagonistas.
Despite the fact that the park is full most of the time, we eventually reach an area with fewer groups, so the path remains a silent and rich space to enjoy. Yellow orchids (yellow lady's slipper) are present in the lower areas and are one of those easily unnoticed beauties. When we reach the water at Marr we find a large dune of fractured rock fragments which offer a disconcerting landscape and at the same time a beautiful carpeted forest and the water as the protagonists.
Tomamos el sendero Bruce hacia el occidente, a través de las rocas ascendimos varios metros para empezar a disfrutar el juego de colores y formas que se cría entre la roca y el agua. Con la erosión, la roca ha dado espacio a pequeñas grutas en el acantilado y a pequeños pilares que parecen flotar en el aire. El agua en las zonas más superficiales, que tienen como fondo grandes lajas de roca, adoptan un color amarillo verdoso que se disuelve lentamente en el azul oscuro de las aguas más profundas, pasando por un turquesa intenso.
We took the Bruce path to the west, through the rocks we ascended several metres to begin to enjoy the play of colours and shapes that grow between the rock and the water. With erosion, the rock has given space to small caves in the cliff and small pillars that seem to float in the air. The water in the most superficial areas, which have large slabs of rock as a bottom, takes on a greenish-yellow colour which slowly dissolves into the dark blue of the deeper waters, passing through an intense turquoise.
Caminamos varios kilómetros por el Borde del acantilado, incluyendo las áreas más populares en donde muchas personas se congregan a disfrutar las formaciones, el paisaje y el agua helada. Más al este, el camino se mueve entre bosque de cedro blanco de troncos bizarros queocupan una franja estrecha entre las paredes de acantilado y las playas rocosas. Allí la luz se reduce y los troncos se vuelven los actores centrales, saliendo por entre las rocas, algunas veces creciendo horizontalmente unos metros para luego ascender en busca de la Luz.
We walk several kilometres along the edge of the cliff, including the most popular areas where many people congregate to enjoy the formations, the landscape, and the icy water. Farther east, the road winds through bizarre-trunked white cedar forests that occupy a narrow strip between the cliff faces and rocky beaches. There the light is reduced and the trunks become the central actors, coming out through the rocks, sometimes growing horizontally for a few metres and then ascending in search of the light.
El sendero al final nos condujo a la exhibición de arte de la temporada, Mark Nijxcc el artista, un estilo único que mezcla los fundamentos de el estilo Woodland y las representaciones y colores de la escuela de la costa oeste, una mezcla atractiva y llena de elementos que hace que uno sumerja en el proceso de descubrimiento de los componentes de cada obra.
The trail at the end led us to a seasonal art exhibit, Mark Nijxcc the artist, with a unique style which mixes Woodland style fundamentals and West Coast school renderings and colours, an engaging mix full of elements that immerse one in the process of discovery of the components of each work.
Los senderos en el centro de visitantes nos ofrecieron una vista más condensada de las bellezas del lugar. Al otro lado, en las costas del lago hurón, pudimos explorar un sendero de flores silvestres, cuatro flores dominaban el paisaje, yellow Lady’s Slippers, Scarlet brush paint, los lirios de la zona dwarf lake iris y las insectívoras, Northern Pitcher Plant que despliegan una hermosa flor invertida creando un misterio propio de su carácter.
The trails in the visitor centre offered us a more condensed view of the beauties of the place. On the other side, on the shores of Lake Huron, we were able to explore a trail of wildflowers, four flowers dominated the landscape, yellow Lady's Slippers, Scarlet brush paint, the dwarf lake iris lilies and the insectivorous Northern Pitcher Plant that displays a beautiful inverted flower creating a mystery of its own character
Al sur de la península dos cataratas ampliaron nuestra apreciación
de esta escarpa. De un lado Jones Falls, con un sendero a traves de un bosque
denso en las copas, que con la luz del la tarde evocaba un cuento tenebroso,
para llegar a una Bosque de cedros blancos y rocas inmensas de belleza singular
que resultan más atractivas que la catarata misma. Luego English Falls, una caída por una pared escalonada de 30
metros, que crea volumen en el agua y hace que esta se distribuya en forma
triangular, dando un sensación de inmensidad y fuerza impactante.
To the south of the peninsula two waterfalls amplified our appreciation of this escarpment. On one side Jones Falls, with a path through a dense forest at the crest, which with the afternoon light evoked a dark tale, to reach a forest of white cedars and immense rocks of singular beauty that are more attractive than the waterfall itself. Then English Falls, a 30-metre drop down a staggered wall, which creates volume in the water and causes it to be distributed in a triangular shape, giving a feeling of immensity and impressive force.
Llegamos. Nuestro campamento entrada la noche, cenamos algo ligero y nos entregamos al placer de la ducha, que hizo nuestra noche una experiencia fresca y relajante.
We arrived at our camp late at night, we had a light dinner and gave ourselves up to the pleasure of the shower, which made our night a fresh and relaxing experience.
Al este del lago hurón / To the east of Lake Huron
Comenzamos el día caminando por la playa del lago hurón a la altura de point farmers. El lago se presenta con aguas claras, separadas de cielo por una banda de niebla que sirve de transición a los colores, creando un sentido de infinito sin horizonte. El agua es fría y la playa es una mezcla de arenas y rocas de formas, colores y tamaños diferentes. Algunas personas están dentro del agua, pero como ayer todas caminan lentamente sin sumergirse.
We started the day walking along the beach of Lake Huron at Farmer's Point. The lake's clear waters, separated from the sky by a band of mist which serves as a transition to the colous, creates a sense of infinity without a horizon. The water is cold and the beach is a mixture of sand and rocks of different shapes, colours, and sizes. Some people are in the water, but as was the case the previous they all walk slowly without actually submerging.
Para llegar a la playa es preciso descender por una escalinata inmensa y esta diferencia de niveles existe incluso en Goderich, el lugar que elegimos visitar por ser descrito como el pueblo más lindo de Ontario.
To get to the beach you have to go down a huge staircase and this difference in levels exists even in Goderich, the place we chose to visit because it is described as the most beautiful town in Ontario.
Después de dar algunas vueltas para llegar al puente antiguo de Menesetug, construido en 1906, para asegurar el acceso de la línea del tren al puerto y permitir las operaciones comerciales en el lago Hurón. Alcanzamos la estructura de madera y acero, que reposa sobre grandes pilares de concreto y que represente la forma tradicional de construcciones de los puentes del la empresa de Trenes del pacifico. El puente existe hoy como un puente peatonal al servicio de la comunidad.
After a few loops we reached the old Menesetug Bridge, built in 1906 to ensure rail access to the port and allow commercial operations on Lake Huron. We walked the wood and steel structure, which rests on large concrete pillars and represents the traditional form of construction of the bridges of the Pacific Train company. The bridge exists today as a pedestrian bridge serving the community. .
Goderich, es un lugar de gente amable con una plaza central octagonal en donde reside el edificio de la Corte, alrededor de desprenden 8 calles que crean un sentido estrellado en el diseño de la ciudad que resulta muy refrescante en una zona dominada por una eterna cuadrícula. Hacia el este es posible visitar el faro y el mirador de la playa, cuál fue nuestra sorpresa cuando la vista está dominada por la gran fábrica de sal, que también invade el paisaje desde el puente antiguo.
Goderich, is a place of friendly people with an octagonal central square where the Court building resides, around 8 streets that create a starry sense in the design of the city that is very refreshing in an area dominated by an eternal grid . To the east it is possible to visit the lighthouse and the viewpoint of the beach, which to our surprise is dominated by a large salt factory, which also invades the landscape from the old bridge.
Seguimos nuestra ruta hacia Ingersoll, elegimos este museo para cortar la extensa navegación por la cuadrícula. Un museo de la tradición con alguna información interesante de héroes y heroinas locales, queso producido en la región y un anuncio de ser u. Museo de agricultura cuya colección al respecto está invisible.
Continuing our route to Ingersoll, we chose to visit the cheese museum for a break from navigating the local road grid. A folk museum with some interesting information on local heroes and heroines, locally-produced cheese and an advertisement for the agriculture museum whose collection in this regard is invisible.
Llegamos a long Point Provincial park Al final de la tarde, y caminamos todo el sendero alrededor del pantanal, no habían muchas aves pero pudimos apreciar una especie de Grebe que no habíamos vista antes, así como las dinámicas de las grullas cuidando su polluelo, las serpientes y las tortugas estuvieron presentes y con los grandes cisnes terminamos el recorrido.
We arrived at Long Point Provincial Park at the end of the afternoon, and we walked all the way around the swamp, there were not many birds but we could appreciate a species of Grebe that we had not seen before, as well as the dynamics of the cranes taking care of their chick, the snakes and turtles were present, and with views of the big swans we finished the tour.
En medio de las conversaciones de la noche alrededor del fuego, los movimientos curiosos de dos aves llamaron nuestra atención. Pequeños búhos nos acompañaron por un rato volando de una rama a la otra a nuestro alrededor.
During evening conversation around the fire, the curious movements of two birds caught our attention. Little owls accompanied us for a while, flying from one branch to the other around us.
Long Point es reconocido como un rico lugar a para avistamiento de aves, durante primavera y otoño hay una gran actividad en el monitoreo de las migraciones. Así en la mañana, después de despertar con el canto de aves conocidas, caminamos por el parque explorando tanto las costas del lago Erie, cómo los pantanales, una presencia poco abundante de aves, pero cómo pasa casi todos los días, una joya se presenta a nuestro ojos para ser apreciada: esta vez una tortuga desovando, un bittern en uno de los pantanales y pequeños warblers y maravillosas ranas hicieron cada sendero valioso.
Long Point is recognized as a rich place for bird watching, during spring and autumn there is great activity in monitoring migrations. So in the morning, after waking up with the song of well-known birds, we walked through the park exploring both the shores of Lake Erie and the swamps, there were few birds, but as happens almost every day, a jewel is presented to our eyes to be appreciated: this time a nesting turtle, a bittern in one of the swamps, and small warblers and wonderful frogs made each trail valuable.
Desde Long Point nos dirigimos a las Cataratas del Niágara y luego a Niagara-on-the-lake. El primero ofrece impresionantes vistas de las cataratas, vale la pena visitarlo a pesar de la gran presencia de infraestructura turística, el segundo es una ciudad muy atractiva con cafés, galerías de arte y restaurantes. Al día siguiente supimos que estaban el Shaw Festival y aprovechamos para asistir al teatro para ver “Village Wooing”.
From Long Point we made our way to Niagara Falls and then to Niagara-on-the-lake. The former offering impressive views of the falls, worth the visit despite the heavy presence of tourist infrastructure, the latter a very attractive town with cafés, art galleries, and restaurants. The following day we discovered that the Shaw Festival was on, and took advantage to attend “Village Wooing” at the theatre.
Luego nos dirigimos a Elora, esperando la cerveza artesanal favorita de Marce, y luego más al este hacia Perth, la historia que se contará en la próxima publicación.
We then headed for Elora, looking forward to Marce’s favourite craft beer, and then further east towards Perth, the story to be told in the next post.
